Environment

Calatagan has one of the most beautiful beaches in the Province of Batangas and has been a destination site for local and international tourists. This has led to major development of resorts and restaurants within its coastline. The “balsa” (floating rafts) has been made famous here with sometimes hundreds being utilized during the summer season. This has become a threat to marine biodiversity, most especially to the surrounding mangrove forests.
