Culture and the Arts

The Foundation strives to generate a greater awareness and appreciation of local Filipino histories, ideologies, creativity, design and heritage delivered through an enriching school’s program.

Conducted initially through a Cultural Mapping Project in Calatagan, Batangas, the research served as inspiration to school children, parents and the local community to become more aware and appreciative of the history and culture of the region. Delivered through a series of lectures, workshops, seminars and town hall meetings the events were organized and attended in consultation with public school teachers, local government officials, retired teachers and local stakeholders.

The ideas forums were then transformed into a number of Strategic Aims:

Integration of Calatagan history and culture in the educational curriculum locally and regionally.

Publish material on the history, culture and heritage of Calatagan to be used as a learning aid nationally.

Partner with Local Government, to pass ordinances to protect Cultural Assets.

Partner with DepEd to allow the schools in Calatagan to synchronize discussions of its local history and culture during the weeklong celebration of Calatagan’s Founding Anniversary.
